Pen and Ink Technique- I often get interesting requests from fans of my work to adapt my style for both personal and commercial projects. Generally these have turned out to be exciting endeavors as they help me break out from my standard routines. I like to try experiment with different projects because there is always something new to learn and bring back to my own fine art and comic book creations. This page shows a few examples of works people have hired me to draw. The smaller images on the right side column represent a wide variety of styles and applications for the art. The first one is a Dragon Drawing was based on the tale of St. George. This 30” x 40” ink on paper drawing was commissioned as a wedding present and combined the traditional fable with contemporary cartooning. The second image was a simple request for one of my earlier hieroglyphic cityscapes to be done with a winter theme. The original drawing was an 18” x 24” ink on paper work and the design was used for a personal limited edition Holiday Gift Card. The Hockey Helmet was created as a t-shirt design and the final image is another example of my art made for a wedding. The crazy comic character was an advertisement for a small press company that specializes in comic books and zines. This was done specifically for the official TCAF (Toronto Comics Arts Festival) publication. The image at the beow is a logo I created for a community event called “Blocks” and the large This tree drawings was a personalized image with the couples wedding vows printed in the center. In each case the clients approached me with their own ideas and we worked out the best possible way to go about the project. Working on these drawings has been fun, challenging and rewarding. |
