HEY APATHY! FREE ONLINE CARTOONS and MONSTER ANIMATION! A contemplative moment expires with explosive results, a lost telepath is eaten by desire and a tiny little bubble person is perpetually pestered by metropolitan vices! Welcome to the City of Gears! All of these strange short creations were made using classical stop motion drawing techniques. The work involves the tedious and somewhat ancient process of compiling hundreds of sequenced ink drawings. The result of this technique is a surreal fliudity that can't be mimicked through modern methods of animation. However as time goes by I find myself using the computer more frequently and have also created some 3D graphics combining the ink drawings with state of the art animations.
The following pages show some of the technical information and processes I use to create online animations. This section includes conceptual sketches, illustrative techniques and articles about the music and scores for the artwork.
The HEY APATHY! online cartoons are made with simple hand drawn stop-motion techniques. The finished films are compiled from thousands of fully rendered flip drawings rather than cell composites or CG files. This technique requires an extensive examinations of motion and sequencing which can be applied to create more advanced projects. These pages will be of interest to anyone who wants to understand the fundementals of animation production. |
HEY APATHY! Superhero Cartoon. A diabolically mechanized alien invasion threatens not only the City of Gears, but the earth herself! As the denizens are technologically assimilated the world falls victim to these extra terrestrial conquerors, and to make matters worse, no one seems to notice! It’s up to a small but brave troupe of children and super-humans to save the monstrous metropolis. This page has Concept drawings and plots for an Animated Kids Cartoon Show. |
Strange sounds from the metropolis mindscape, hear the city scream with a voice from weird dreams… For the past few years I have been taking part in a weekly jam session with a group of friends. Though primarily recreational, I can always find an excuse to make anything into work so I convinced the musicians to score the HEY APATHY! animations. This page has an assortment of videos and stories cataloguing the development of our ( using the term loosely) music. |
